Picture on a shelf

I do not want to just be a picture on the shelf

Though I cannot stand to be around myself

The only thing I can do is write down words

Blocking it all out just listening to my birds

If I do not like a person, I can just leave

But it gets harder when that person is me

I must be in a movie that goes on forever

Because every day I feel like I'm an actor

I have not got to truly meet myself yet

But every day I try to take one more step

Closer to who I was supposed to become

Before life took it all and left me numb

Look that girl cannot be me in that picture

No, she's supposed to have a brighter future

I am only a star that is slowly loses its light

Whose only weapon left in life is to write
